  1. Misty Rocks (via mbonocore)

Today, accompanied by my friend Sean, and our 2 sons (Furry, four legged sons), we ventured out to one of my favorite hikes in Marin. It starts off of the parking lot at Muir Beach, and begins with a long, incredibly steep trek to the peak of a hill, perfect for shooting photos down onto the crashing waves at Muir Beach. If you have a ultra zoom lens, be careful not to scan too far past the main beach, or you might get a surprise view of a fair amount of nude loving Marinites. Luckily, it was freezing, so the nudist decided to practice their trait in the comfort of their own home.

After leaving the hill peak, we continued on a thin single track trail that hugs a steep cliff down to the pounding surf below. Battling strong winds, we made our way downhill to Pirate’s Cove. This is a small, secluded rocky beach with amazing rock croppings right off the beach in the Pacific Ocean. I am lucky enough to have a friend, Lisa, who also happens an amazing photographer, And she also likes to teach me new tricks. So with a neutral density filter that she so kindly loaned to me, I attempted the silky moving water capture for the first time. I was disappointed with the results for the most part. The lighting was terrible, and with the friend and the dogs, I was not able to get in my photography groove. But there was some that came out ok! Can’t wait to get a second shot with the neutral density and some good moving water!
